Important Note: Progress displayed on OCA Learn isn't monitored and is not a requirement for course completion; progress trackers are for your own use only. Please note that the only requirement for your course being marked as 'Complete' is the submission of assignments and confirmation of feedback from your tutor.
If you have finished your course and all activity completion criteria has been met, but your course isn't displaying 100% completion, see the Why doesn’t my course show 100% completion? article for more information.
Activity Completion
Completion criteria is applied to each activity and used to calculate and display the percentage of progress made within a particular course. There are three types of activity completion that you may encounter:
- Not Applicable - activity completion is not required.
- Automatic - activity completion is applied when the criteria has been met e.g. accessing the content.
- Manual - activity completion requires the user to mark the criteria as complete.
Not Applicable
The activity doesn't have any activity completion settings applied and doesn't contribute to the completion or progress percentage of the course. The 'Not Applicable' setting can be identified by the lack of a 'Tick' or 'Exclamation Mark' icon to the top-right of the activity.
Automatic
The activity will be automatically completed once the criteria has been satisfied. This typically includes reading through an activity in full and / or uploading and submitting work. Automatic activity completion can be identified by an 'Exclamation Mark' icon located in the top-right of the activity.
Manual
The activity completion can be identified by a grey 'Tick' icon located in the top-right of the activity. This activity requires you to manually select the 'Tick' icon to mark it as complete.
How to Identify Activities Requiring Completion
Any outstanding activities can be quickly identified by viewing the 'Contents' menu located on the left of each course page. Each section will display the number of activities completed and the number of activities where the criteria hasn't yet been met. Activities that are considered complete can be identified by the 'Tick' or Exclamation Mark' icon no longer being greyed out.
How to Identify Activity Completion Criteria
For activities that are yet to be marked as complete, you can view the criteria by selecting the activity and finding the labels located underneath the activity title. In the same way as the 'Tick' and 'Exclamation Mark' icons, outstanding criteria will be greyed out.
