Block Types
The Gutenberg Editor offers a variety of block types, but the most common and useful ones to OCA students are listed and explained below.
- Paragraph - The default block type. A 'Paragraph' block is best suited for adding standard text and will likely make up the majority of your post content.
- Heading - The 'Heading' block provides several enlarged heading fonts useful for breaking up sections of text or media.
- List - The 'List' block enables you to create both bullet point and numbered lists. A good use case for this block is listing your bibliography / references.
- Image - An 'Image' block allows you to upload a single image.
- Gallery - A 'Gallery' block supports the upload of multiple images in an organised and smaller format. To enable visitors to your learning log to enlarge your images, see the How can I enlarge my images / make them magnifiable? article.
- Media and Text - The 'Media and Text' block enables you to upload an image to appear alongside text.
- File - The 'File' block supports the upload, display and download of a file, such as a PDF or Word document.
