Jetpack is an all in one toolkit that offers the following benefits:
- Additional block types available in the editor, including, a slideshow (rotating image carousel) and tiled gallery (display multiple images in a mosaic, grid or column format).
- Access to your OCA Spaces learning log via WordPress.com and the free WordPress mobile application.
- Ability to connect to Google Photos and insert images directly without the need to manually download and reupload them to OCA Spaces.
To see all of the benefits Jetpack offers, see Features Included in the Core Jetpack Plugin for more information.
How to Connect to Jetpack / Wordpress.com
1. Navigate to the WordPress Dashboard by viewing your learning log, hovering over the title of your site on the toolbar and selecting 'Dashboard', as shown in the screenshot below.
2. Select 'Jetpack' from the left-hand menu.
3. On the following page, select the 'Set up Jetpack' button, where you'll be prompted to sign in using the 'Continue with Google' option. If you are signed into your OCA Email Account, selecting this option will automatically create and sign into your Jetpack Account.
4. On successful sign in, you will be prompted to select a preferred 'Plan' and will need to choose the 'Start with Free' option located towards the bottom of the page.
5. You will now be redirected back to your learning log on OCA Spaces with Jetpack enabled and can immediately benefit from the additional toolkit.
It is important to note that Jetpack is connected to a specific learning log and not your wider OCA Spaces account, so you will need to connect Jetpack on each existing / newly created learning log.
How to Connect to Google Photos
When creating a new post, or editing an existing post, insert an 'Image' or 'Gallery' block and choose 'Select Image' followed by 'Google Photos'. Within the pop-up window, select 'Connect to Google Photos' and you will be prompted to sign in using your OCA email address.
If set up correctly, your Google Photos Library will now be visible and you can select images to insert into your learning log post.
See the WordPress Support Page for further guidance on setting up Google Photos.
