Google Prompt can be used to authenticate your sign in attempt by receiving a notification to your Mobile / Tablet, where you will be prompted to accept or deny the sign in request. Google Prompt can be used across multiple devices.
iPhone or iPad (iOS)
If you are setting up 2FA for the first time, or accessing your account while 2FA is disabled, you will first need to sign into your OCA Email Account using a Desktop or Laptop, please see the How do I sign into my OCA Email Account? article for guidance.
1. From your web browser, navigate to the Google homepage - google.com.
2. Select the Google Account Profile Icon in the upper-right corner, followed by 'Manage your Google Account'.
3. Select 'Security' from the left-hand menu, and scroll down to select '2-Step Verification'. You will be prompted to enter your password to continue.
4. Available for iPhone 5 or above, you will now need to sign into a compatible Google Application on your Mobile or Tablet using your OCA Email Account. Compatible applications include Gmail, YouTube, Google Account, Google Photos and the Smart Lock App.
5. Once signed into your OCA Email Account on both a Desktop / Laptop and Mobile / Tablet, select 'Google Prompt' from the '2-Step Verification' page that you accessed in Step 3 and you should see your device in the list of supported devices.
6. Assuming your device appears as expected, select continue and the device will be registered on your OCA Email Account.
When signing into your account after successful set up, you will now receive a notification to your device to enable you to accept or deny the sign in request.
Google Prompt will function on any iOS device that you are signed into using a compatible Google Application. Please note that you can't choose which application(s) you receive the push notification from.
Android
